Bio
Denis was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He came to Canada in 1964 and has lived in Oakville ever since. He is married to Denise and they have three children and seven grandchildren.
In addition to his popularity as a radio broadcaster, Denis was President of The Travel Corner Ltd. In Oakville for 30 years.
As the producer and host of ‘A Little Breath of Scotland’, Denis celebrated the 50th Anniversary of his popular program in October 2015. The longevity of Denis’ show is an achievement that very few in the industry can match, and ‘A Little Breath of Scotland’ is certainly the longest running Scottish show in North America – perhaps the world.
The show first aired on October 24, 1965 as a half hour programme on CHWO Radio in Oakville, and the following week it was extended to an hour long show, and has been on the air every until August 9, 2015. For more than 25 years the show was heard on Saturdays from 11.00a.m. till 1.00p.m., before moving to Sundays from 4-6p.m. when CHWO 1250 became AM740 in 2001.
The August 9th, 2015 show was his last on AM740. Denis did not accept the direction the station management wanted to take the show, and he informed them he would no longer be producer/host of A Little Breath of Scotland.
As a result of the feedback from loyal listeners to the show, Denis decided to bring back the show as a podcast, with the very first edition which aired on November 1, 2015, commemorating the completion of fifty years of broadcasting the show.
